Birth and Early years
Born in 1553 in the sixth astral era, Vincent grew up in New Gridania with his parents and older sister Tsuka. For his early life, Vincent had to deal with a handful of bullies as a child and the bad looks and suspicion from adults, even when his parents did their best to protect him from it all. At age 11, Vincent decided he was going to be an adventurer when he grows up, and prove to the gridanians that he could be trusted. His mother, an adventurer who was the first to really see how dangerous it could be, coupled with the fact that she witnessed the garleans encroaching upon Othard, was very opposed to the idea. His father also did air on the side of cation about the profession, but he was less obtrusive about it. Vincent continued his studies while daydreaming about fighting dragons, finding lost cities and discovering new lands. His sister Tsuka supported him greatly, and when asked what she wanted to do, she told him she wanted to study alchemy and go to Radz-at-Han to study under their aunts and uncles from their father's side of the family. For the next few years, both children read up and studied their respective dreams, until Tsuka turned 19 and left for Thavnair. Around this time, vincent had begun training as a lancer. His mother was doing everything in her power to make Vincent give up his dreams, but instead it made him more resilient to the idea. Two months after he turned 17, vincent began to adventure. His adventures took him first to areas around the black shroud, slaying all manner of critters. He met a group of four adventurers, also novices, during a hunt for a morbol. Using their skills to slay it. Vincent had a group of allies to travel all across Eorzea with. However, it was not meant to last.
Battle of carteneau and despair
Vincent and his friends fought in the battle of Carteneau, trying to help any wounded adventurers by any means possible. However, his friends were overwhelmed by magitek contraptions and began getting slain. in the midst of battle, vincent was knocked out, and some others carried him away, becoming the only survivor of his group. A week after dalamud fell, Vincent had awoken to a changed and scarred land. He was told by chirurgeons of some of the events of the battle, and what happened to his group. Vincent experienced nightmares, grief, and trauma for months. He had also lost contact with his sister Tsuka, who used to have regular mail and linkpearl contact with him and their parents, and he feared the worst. This left him damaged and was close to making him return home and hang up his lance forever. After he had recovered, vincent spent time in Thanalan, away from the battlefield and hoping to start anew. Vincent wanted to learn more about his heritage and roots. His mother never talked much about life in kugane. He set out to find anything related to the far east, and his journey took him to rumors of a far eastern warrior in Ul'dah. Going there, he met Musosai, a samurai. when vincent told him of his mother's background, he was surprised to hear about him being half Hingan and half Hannish. Musosai asked Vincent if he wanted to learn more about hingan culture. Vincent began to learn more about the far east, and eventually, Vincent began to learn samurai arts.
A realm reborn
❝ The first couple of months were brutal and unforgiving. The old geezer could kick my arse no matter what I threw at him, and it was infuriating at first. There were times where I would get close, an that feeling would always push me to learn more, study more and work harder. ❞
Vincent began his training with Musosai three months after the 7th umbral era began, and he regularly wrote letters to his parents, who were glad he was okay. However, he hid the fact that he was training to be a samurai from his mother, stating he was recovering still from carteneau and would be coming home soon. It took him another three months to both fully heal all injuries and to finish the majority of his training. Musosai wanted vincent to gain experience by traveling all over eorzea and figure out what he wanted to do. His first stop was back home, in gridania. when he met his father, he was happy to see his son okay, but when his mother saw a katana slung from vincent's hip, the two men saw all seven hells break loose. Sameko berated Vincent for not only making her worry that he perished, but come back home as a samurai. Vincent explained his side of things, but no matter what, his mother was adamant he sell his items and retire. Vincent couldn't come home knowing the garleans took his friends from him and were always going to be a threat, so he made his decision. He said goodbye to his parents, and traveled to La Noscea to keep an eye out for garleans in the region. His travels took him to the areas surrounding Limsa Lominsa, back to farther areas of thanalan, and even in the farther parts of the shroud. Vincent protected many regions from the garleans, and by the time the events of a Realm reborn begin, vincent learnt much on his travels, and from Musosai's teachings.
NOAH's expedition to the Crystal Tower
Vincent traveled to the scarred land of Mor Dhona in search of quests to complete, when he heard about an expedition to the nearby crystal tower. He found out more information after prodding around more, and found out about the ancient Allag Civilization, and the threat that remained. After joining such a large expedition, he first experienced the labyrinth of the ancients, where he first encountered larger voidsent. He had seen smaller, weaker ones before when he was a lancer, and had thought they were mere pests. This experienced proved him wrong, as he had to contend with beasts that had no issues ripping him apart if they got a hold of him. He had almost wanted to quit after they had all made it out of the labyrinth, but he had resolve to see what was to come. He saw many amazing adventurers around him fell voidsent, encouraging him to keep trying as the NOAH expedition progressed, resulting in one G'raha Tia being sealed within, stopping the threat of any extremely powerful voidsent coming into the source. Vincent walked away from the experience with combat knowledge, and an understanding that there was more to Eorzea than what he knew for so many years.
Adventures in the Hinterlands
While the Scions were dealing with the aftermath of the bloody banquet and fleeing to Ishgard in safety, Vincent was in La Noscea, trying to pick up on a trade his mother had gotten him interested in for awhile. Visiting the culinarians guild, he picked up on the trade. After learning how to make stews, Vincent was asked to go to Idyllshire to deliver some goods there. After making the long journey and fending off dragonkin with his Samurai abilities, Vincent made it to the Dravanian Hinterlands. The first thing he took note of, was the giant primal known as Alexander towering over much of the region. After being amazed by the sight, Vincent got into Idyllshire, and saw how it was a mere outpost for adventurers and treasure hunters alike. He also saw how there were many orphans that had not had meals in days. He came upon the eccentric Zhloe Aliapoh and learned of her issues with paying off her debts and taking care of orphans. Seeing how dire things were, Vincent spent weeks staying there, cooking meals for the orphans and making sure they had proper clothes and necessities. Vincent became well liked within the community for his kind acts. While in the area, Vincent aided other adventurers in fending off hostile goblins and even working with other goblins to protect the settlement. This culminated in him and others working to even battle against the primal Alexander. Hardened by his experiences in the crystal tower, Vincent impressed his peers with his skills, with many of them having never seen a Samurai, let alone a katana before. The quest to halt the goblins and Alexander is completed, and Idyllshire is safe. Vincent decides to travel back to Gridania to rest with his family for some time, telling them about his adventures so far.
Stormblood
Vincent's rest in Gridania was cut short when he felt the shockwave that came from the battle that occurred between the Primal Shinryu and the weapon known as Omega. During his assessment of the damage done around the area and helping those in need, his family received a letter from his mother's hometown in the far east. Kugane, a port city in the nation of Hingashi. Its origin was in his mother's parents, who wished to see Vincent. After hesitation, Vincent managed to travel across the sea to Othard. After surviving a long sea sickness during the travel, he landed in Kugane, being amazed by the area where his mother grew up. He went to the address listed in the letter, and met his grandparents on his mother's side. Seeing him as a Samurai and adventurer, they began to tell Vincent that they wanted him to prove himself to them. His grandparents were still harboring some lingering doubts about adventurers, and had even disowned his mother over being an adventurer and leaving home. They wanted him to prove himself while in Othard, and then they'd formally apologize to his mother. Vincent accepted, and went to Yanxia to see if there were any assignments for him to do. It was here that he found out about the presence that the Garleans had in the region. Seeing the treatment the citizens were receiving by the empire, Vincent began his work on kicking them out of Yanxia. Traveling to different regions around the same time the scions entered the region, he would launch a crusade against the Empire for what happened at Carteneau. After Doma castle was taken back, Vincent traveled back to Kugane, where his grandparents were feeling confusion and shame due to how things turned out. Hearing about Vincent's bravery, they apologized to him for the way they had treated and cut off his mother from their lives. Vincent relayed this to his mother, who definitely wanted to reconnect but still needed time. When Vincent returned home, he found the region of Gyr Abania being liberated, and decided to pass through the region. There, he met a peculiar Red Mage named X'rhun Tia, who was in the middle of helping locals from runaway magitek. After lending aid, Vincent and X'rhun chatted for awhile before he offered to teach Vincent the art of Red Magicks, since Vincent had always read up about the art. Intrigued, Vincent accepted, and began training in Gyr Abania while helping to fully liberate Ala Mhigo from the empire. After the liberation, Vincent took time to explore the Ala Mhigan quarter and even see the royal menagerie with his new Red Mage attire in hand.
Shadowbringers
After Vincent returned home from his adventures in the far east and Gyr Abania, he rested for a few weeks, and spent time with his parents and friends, until he began to hear strange rumors of towers all over Eorzea. When he had traveled to the area of Gridania called Rootslake, he saw one of these towers. The grand companies then made it known that a group called the Telophoroi were responsible. Learning that they were an offshoot of the Garlean Empire, as well as a group called 'Ascians'. However, Vincent's attention was called when remnants of the IXth legion, a lesser known legion, was on the move back around the Ghimlyt Dark. This was a legion Vincent was familiar with all too well, as some of their members were responsible for the deaths of his team. While the grand company of Eorzea worked against the Telopheroi, Vincent personally went to deal with the remnants of the IXth legion in the north. Vincent found that they were going to send a bunch of magitek to overwhelm Eorzea while they were busy with the towers. Vincent stealthily made his way to destroy the facilities. He was beginning to get overwhelmed when he was saved by a bard, who covered him as the two escaped. Coming to his senses, he found himself and the bard. Looking at her closely, he realized it was his thought to be dead sister, Tsuka. After a tearful reunion, Tsuka came to tell Vincent that the island of Thavnair is in trouble from these towers and that some of their relatives are missing. Leaving the north of Eorzea and going back to Gridania, Vincent and Tsuka returned home, with Tsuka being tearfully welcomed back home by their parents. Vincent, determined to protect his family from the Empire and the Telophoroi, decided to travel alone to the Bozja region to get a Katana made to travel to Thavnair. After spending days gathering materials and giving aid to the resistance there, Vincent received a blade the Bozjans called "Law's Order". After leaving, he traveled back to meet with Tsuka, and the two of them headed to Thavnair to defend the land from the Telophoroi and rescue his family.
